Glossary G&H

 Hi everyone!!

Here is the glossary of unit 3. You have to copy it in your notebook, and next Monday I will check it. 

1.Course: course from its source to its mouth.
2. River flow: the amount of water carried by a river.
3. Tributary: small river that flows into a big river. 
4: Waterfall: large drop in a river's course.
5: Gorge: deep and narrow valley
6. Alluvial Plain/ Food plain: fertile areas for agriculture
7. Estuary: is the place where fresh water from the river mixes with fresh water from the sea. 
8. Delta: A landform formed by the accumulation of sediment at the mouth of a river. 
9. Meander: curve that forms in a river.
10. Salinity: amount of sal dissolved in water.
11. Groundwater: is water that is stored beneath the Earth's surface. 
12. Glaciers:they are masses of ice created by the accumulation of snow.
13.Lakes: they are permanent bodies of water that have accumulated in inland basins. 
14. Currents: steady, flowing movements of the water of an ocean. 
15. Tides: 
16. Oceans: they are large bodies of water that surround the continents. There are five: Atlantic, Pacific, Southern, Arctic and Indian
17. Seas: they are parts of the oceans partly enclosed by land. 
18. Waves: movements of the surface of the water caused by the wind.
